The GeekDinner movement provides a meeting place for people who are passionate about technology and social media. It’s a social networking event where you’re likely to be seated with open source advocates, geeks, entrepreneurs, and bloggers.
GeekDinners occur every two months in Cape Town, and more recently in Johannesburg too. About sixty people come together at a restaurant for a good meal and fine wine, in order to exchange ideas and discuss projects. A few people volunteer to give short talks in between meal courses on something that currently interests them, and there is plenty of time for questions, discussion and general networking.
The GeekDinner tries to visit exciting new venues as often as possible, and we get wine sponsored for us.
